Malin’s CBR-III Reviews # 78-93

Malin’s CBR-III Reviews # 69-77: Yes, I did another massive blog update

So my work is keeping me way busier this time of year than I’m used to, which reduces the amount of free time I have for reading. I’m also a lot more tired when I do have spare time, so reading takes longer, but I AM still reading. I just hadn’t really blogged any of the books since the last update. So on the final day of my autumn break, I decided to blog all of them in one day, again. Here goes:

Book 69: The War of Don Emmanuel’s Nether Parts by Louis de Bernieres –  http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/10/69-war-of-don-emmanuels-nether-parts-by.html

Book 70: The House at Riverton by Kate Morton – http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/10/70-house-at-riverton-by-kate-morton.html

Book 71: This is strictly speaking 3 volumes of a comic book/graphic novel, Mike Carey’s The Unwritten – http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/10/71-unwritten-vol-1-3-by-mike-carey-and.html

Book 72: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs - http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/10/72-miss-peregrines-home-for-peculiar.html

Book 73: Archangel’s Blade by Nalini Singh – http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/10/73-archangels-blade-by-nalini-singh.html

Book 74: The Glass Demon by Helen Grant – http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/10/74-glass-demon-by-helen-grant.html

Book 75: The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton – http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/10/75-forgotten-garden-by-kate-morton.html

Book 76: Heat Rises by Richard Castle – http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/10/76-heat-rises-by-richard-castle.html

Book 77: The Wild Rose by Jennifer Donnelly – http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/10/77-wild-rose-by-jennifer-donnelly.html

Malin’s CBR-III Reviews # 47-50: Elantris by Brandon Sanderson, Imitation in Death by J.D. Robb, Graveminder by Melissa Marr and Something Deadly This Way Comes by Kim Harrison

Finally up to date with my blogging. That means you get another link-dump here at the Cannonball blog:

47. Excellent debut, completely stand-alone fantasy novel by the guy who’s now finishing Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series (although he deserves to be read for his own work, which is all good): http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/06/47-elantris-by-brandon-sanderson.html

48. More futuristic, romantic mystery by Nora Roberts writing as J.D. Robb. Love me some Eve and Roarke: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/06/48-imitation-in-death-by-jd-robb.html

49. Excellent paranormal fantasy suspense, with a romantic subplot. Possibly the start of a new series, but ends satisfyingly, so no worries about cliffhangers and having to wait ages for the next in the series: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/06/49-graveminder-by-melissa-marr.html

50. Book 3 in Kim Harrison’s young adult series about Madison Avery, light and disposable: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/06/50-something-deadly-this-way-comes-by.html

Malin’s CBR-III Reviews # 44-46: Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel, Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews and Just Like Heaven by Julia Quinn

I’m yet again way behind on my blogging, so expect quite a few links here in the next few days. Here are the first three:

44. Award winning historical fiction about the Sexy Tudors (not really): http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/06/44-wolf-hall-by-hilary-mantel.html

45. Fifth installment of my possibly absolute favourite paranormal fantasy right now: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/06/45-magic-slays-by-ilona-andrews.html

46. Frothy Regency romance, very disposable: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/06/46-just-like-heaven-by-julia-quinn.html

Malin’s CBR-III Reviews # 41-43: Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris, The Vampire Voss and The Vampire Dimitri by Colleen Gleason

I’m slowly (so much less time to read this year than last) but surely reading my way to the finish line. Here’s a trifecta of paranormal fantasy featuring vampires, one contemporary, two historical.

41. The most recent Sookie Stackhouse novel. Better than the last one, but nothing close to as good as the early ones: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/05/41-dead-reckoning-by-charlaine-harris.html

42. The first in a trilogy of historical romance/paranormal fantasy by Colleen Gleason, author of The Gardella Vampire Chronicles: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/05/42-vampire-voss-by-colleen-gleason.html

43. The second in the same trilogy, which seems to be improving with each book: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/05/43-vampire-dimitri-by-colleen-gleason.html

Currently reading Wolf Hall, and as my schedule seems to be clearing up, I should be able to finish the 52 books by early June.

Malin’s CBR-III Reviews #23-25: Iron Crowned by Richelle Mead, To Love a Thief by Julie Anne Long, One of Our Thursdays is Missing by Jasper Fforde

I actually updated my blog a few days ago, and completely forgot to link here in the group blog. Nearly halfway done now.

Paranormal fantasy, part three in a series. Bit of a disappointment: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/03/23-iron-crowned-by-richelle-mead.html

Very enjoyable Regency romance – a bit of a Pygmalion story: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/03/23-iron-crowned-by-richelle-mead.html

Yet another review of the latest Thursday Next book, but the more, the merrier, right?: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/04/25-one-of-our-thursdays-is-missing-by.html

Malin’s CBR-III Reviews #19-22: River Marked by Patricia Briggs, A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson, Juliet, Naked by Nick Hornby and One Day by David Nicholls

Yet again I fell behind on my blogging and have to update with a monster post. Have tried to diversify my reading a little bit.

19. Paranormal fantasy, book 6 in a series, contains some spoilers for earlier books in the series: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/03/19-river-marked-by-patricia-briggs.html

20. Non-fiction, which is unusual for me, written by the excellent Mr. Bryson. Highly recommended: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/03/20-short-history-of-nearly-everything.html

21. My third attempt at reading Nick Hornby – probably my favourite of his so far: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/03/21-juliet-naked-by-nick-hornby.html

22. I know I’m not the first to read and review this one, but the concept made me curious, and it was a quick read: http://kingmagu.blogspot.com/2011/03/22-one-day-by-david-nicholls.html
