pyrajane’s #29: Troll’s Eye View: A Book of Villainous Tales edited by Ellen Datlow &Terri Windling

I love retold tales and I’m thrilled whenever Ellen Datlow &Terri Windling have a new collection.  Their move into young adult does not disappoint.

Come visit my page for more about the book.

Glad you liked the book but actually it’s not young adult, it’s middle grade-intended for 8-12 year olds 🙂 and follows up our earlier two middle grade fairy tale books: A Wolf at the Door and Swan Sister.

  2. I never know how exactly YA works. I’ve heard people refer to younger grades as juvenile fiction, but that sounds weird. Do people even use that anymore? I’ve gotten into the bad habit of referring to YA as anything from 5th or 6th grade up.

I’m not sure sometimes either. When Terri and I started editing YA fiction we thought it meant older teens to early 20s but that market has seemed to drop down to 14+. Middle grade is considere 8-12 years. I don’t think anything’s called “juvenile” fiction any more.
