CBR III Review #130: Eve by Anna Carey
A deadly virus has ravaged the world. The majority of the population has died off. Sixteen years later Eve is growing up in a school for orphans, her own parents were taken by the virus. Eve is first in her class and about to graduate. The school has promised her a wonderful new life where she can learn a trade and become integrated with what is left of society. Except that was never the plan for Eve. All female graduates are forced to bear multiple children while locked away. The goal is to repopulate the earth. Eve finds out this horrifying truth and decides to run for it.
Eve sets off on a journey to find a safe place where she can live, but she discovers that the world outside her school is extremely dangerous. This book has danger and love and a deadly virus that hasn’t gone away completly.
I started off really liking Eve but she starts making some of the dumbest decisions, some which end of with unforgivable consequences. Her love for one guy turns her into a complete and utter moron. She starts off as not the strongest character, but she learns to fight and survive. I can respect that. I can’t respect making dumb ass choices because the deep love she feels for a boy that she has only known for a few weeks.
Sorry guys I’m a cynic. Also I found out this is just the first book in a series, but unless I try to read a million books again next year I don’t see myself picking up the sequel.
