Ashley’s CBR III Review #134: Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan

CBR III Review #134: Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan

All right ignore the back cover of this book.  Ignore the cheesy cover and please ignore the fact that the series is also known as Sky Chasers.  Promise me you will ignore all these things and that you can also ignore the horrible first chapter or so because this book gets awesome.

The Earth’s resources have been used up and it’s a dire place to live.  Two ships have been sent on a really long mission so that their descendants can live on a new earth-like planet. The Empyrean is one of these ships.  Waverly has only known life on the The Empyrean and living in space is normal for her.  However, due to the hardships living in space has done to their bodies
it is now recommended that all teenagers marry young and start a family as soon as possible. This is so their will be a generation to inhabit the new earth.  Waverly’s boyfriend Kieran proposes to her and she is in the middle of weighing her decision when the New Horizon, The Empyrean’s sister ship attacks the Empyrean and kidnaps all the girls and female teenagers.  This is where the novel gets seriously awesome.
I want to tell you everything that happens but I don’t want to give anything anyways because it’s so much fun to read.  I had my reservations but I think it even beats out Across the Universe for best “space opera” of the year.  If you have liked my other suggestions then this one will not disappoint.
